As graduation day draws near, we’re thrilled to share a special three-part “Senior Spotlight” series, celebrating the remarkable journeys of nine outstanding East Windsor High School seniors. In each post, we’ll share a glimpse into the diverse experiences, hard work, and unique paths that have shaped their high school careers as they prepare for their next exciting adventures.
Cristian Carballo: Paving the Way for a Career in Dental Hygiene

Cristian Carballo is one of East Windsor High School’s dedicated seniors looking forward to a career where he can directly help others. Next year, Cristian will be attending CT State to complete the prerequisites for a Dental Hygiene program. His goal is to become a dental hygienist, driven by a desire to “help people improve their health and confidence.”
Cristian’s favorite teacher at EWHS was Mr. Surface, who he credits with keeping him motivated and always being willing to help, setting a great example. For incoming ninth graders, Cristian offers practical advice: “Stay ahead of your work so you don’t have to stress about it later. It makes things easier and gives you more time to enjoy school, sports, or whatever you’re into. Don’t wait until the last minute—it adds up fast.”
What makes EWHS special for Cristian is its smaller size, which creates a tight-knit community. He appreciates that it’s easier to build relationships with teachers and classmates, making the school feel “more supportive and welcoming.” Cristian is most proud of keeping consistent grades throughout high school while also making meaningful friendships.
Emmit Soboslai: Exploring Business and Building Lifelong Skills

Emmit Soboslai has made the most of his time at East Windsor High School, delving into various activities and discovering his interests. He was active in soccer, baseball, Gasoline Alley, and Boy Scouts.
Next year, Emmit plans to attend Manchester Community College to study business, with the intention of transferring to either the University of Connectitcut or Central Connecticut State University to earn a major in business and a minor in marketing. His favorite teacher, Mr. Kaplan, who teaches tech education, made a significant impact. Emmit shared that Mr. Kaplan “taught me the most that I’ve used so far in life and his jokes always get everyone to laugh.”
Emmit’s advice to next year’s ninth graders is to be proactive in exploring their passions: “If you don’t know what job you want to go into, explore everything to its fullest and don’t miss or pass on any opportunities given to you.” The teachers, especially in the English department, made EWHS a special place for Emmit. He credits them with helping him “overcome things that I hated like reading and writing, which put me in a better position today.” Emmit is most proud of getting the computer science award for Rochester University.
Giovanni Carter: On to College Football and Business Management

Giovanni Carter has distinguished himself on the athletic fields during his time at East Windsor High School. He was a dedicated member of both the football team and the track and field team.
Next year marks an exciting new chapter for Giovanni as he plans to play college football and study business management. When asked about his favorite teachers, Giovanni mentioned Ms. Custer, who teaches business and marketing, and Mr. Flynn, who teaches health and physical education.
Giovanni’s advice to incoming ninth graders is to truly value their time: “Don’t take anything for granted, use your time wisely.” For Giovanni, EWHS holds a special place because “they gave me a chance.” He is most proud of all of his awards, whether in sports or academics, highlighting his well-rounded achievements during his high school career.
Congratulations to Cristian, Emmit, and Giovanni! We wish them all the best as they embark on their exciting post-graduation journeys.
Congratulations to the Class of 2025 – they will be celebrated during East Windsor High School’s graduation ceremonies on Monday, June 9th at 6 PM.
