Registration Process
Steps for Registering
STEP 1
Complete the online pre-registration form here.
STEP 2
Once your pre-registration form is approved, you will receive an email titled “East Windsor Public Schools Registration”. The email will contain the steps for submitting the required documents. Please scan them as you will need to upload them into the PowerSchool forms.

Transferring from another school district? Complete this form.
Registration for all children turning 5 on or before September 1, 2024 is completed online through Central Registration office.
Please complete this form and be prepared to upload the following documents. An email with instructions will follow.
1. A copy of the child’s birth certificate
2. Proof of residency (lease/mortgage and tax or utility bill)
3. Proof of immunizations against:
a. DTaP – 4 doses
b. Polio – 3 doses
c. MMR – 2 doses
d. Pneumococcal – 1 dose
e. HIB – 1 dose
f. Hepatitis B – 3 doses
g. Varicella (history of chicken pox documented or vaccine) – 2 doses
h. Hepatitis A – 2 doses
4. A physical examination should be completed within twelve (12) months of entry into school (completed after July 1,2022).
a. This exam must be completed on the blue state physical exam form.
b. The first page of the blue form must be completed by the parent and signed.
c. The exam must include an assessment of risk of exposure to Tuberculosis.
d. The child’s lead level must be completed on the form.
Children have their lead level completed between 1-2 years of age (the lead level at that age is what should be reported on the form by the physician).
5. An oral exam – Your dentist will complete and sign the 3rd page of the state blue form.
The physical examination, oral exam, and proof of immunizations must be submitted to school by July 3, 2023. Your child will not be registered without the submission of all required medical information as listed above, and he/she will not be permitted to begin school in August until all information has been provided.
To assist parents in preparing their children for a smooth transition to kindergarten, the kindergarten teachers annually present an orientation evening for parents/guardians each August, generally a week before school begins. The presentation provides information on the kindergarten day and classroom activities. Teachers and the principal also answer any questions parents may have about the program. The East Windsor Public Schools will begin accepting applications on March 1, 2024 for the 2024-2025 Integrated Pre-kindergarten classes. The program is offered five days per week for half-day sessions and serves the needs of students with disabilities as well as non-disabled peers. For enrollment dates and deadlines, click here.

For the 2024-2025 academic year, we will be offering preschool slots to those families whose children are already on our preschool waiting list. Once we have received notice regarding the number of slots filled through the waiting list, we will then fill remaining available slots by lottery on March 22, 2024. A wait list according to lottery number will be kept for students who are not selected, as well as children who apply following the lottery. Parents will be notified of placements or inclusion on the wait list the week following the lottery. Information regarding preschool screenings will be included with the placement notification.

To be eligible for registration, students must be at least 3 years of age by September 1, 2024, or 4 years of age by September 1, 2024, residents of East Windsor, and complete the full registration packet, including immunization information, at the time of registration.
There is a fee to attend this program. The cost is $150 per month or $1,500 for the half-day full year. The fee is pro-rated for children who qualify under federal eligibility guidelines.

What are the medical requirements for enrollment?
Proof of Immunizations
Updated physical and oral exam with the form completed by your physician and dentist.
How do I know if my child needs a TB test?
A risk assessment of tuberculosis must be completed on page 2 of the physical exam form your pediatrician completes. Students entering Connecticut schools from outside of the United States are required to have a physical exam completed by a provider licensed to practice in the United States. Tuberculosis testing is a required part of this exam.
What age is my child eligible for Kindergarten?
In the East Windsor Public Schools, children who will be five (5) years old on or before January 1 will be eligible to enter full day, full year kindergarten in that school year. Where questions may exist with regard to placement for newly registered students, considerations will be given to the readiness of the student to do the work of any particular grade. The final decision in such matters will rest with the school principal. Proof of age must be provided at the time of registration.
How will I be notified of my child’s start date?
You will be contacted with a start date by staff from the attending school.
Will Central Registration provide bus route or transportation info?
Staff from the attending school will provide you with bus information when the start date is determined.
Why do I have to provide custody documents?
To protect your child’s privacy and to ensure those with the right to access your child and information about them have access.
Should I bring transcripts/report cards from another country when I am enrolling my child?
Yes. Please bring academic information from other countries that you have for your child.
How do I obtain an Interpreter for a meeting at my child’s school?
Please inform the Central Registrar and this service will be provided for you at your scheduled meeting.

When does Pre-K registration begin?
The East Windsor Public Schools Pre-K application process opens on March 1st of each year for students wishing to start school in the Fall. Parents are asked to complete the application and send it in by March 15, 2024.
How old does my child need to be to register for Pre-K?
To be eligible for Pre-K registration, children must be at least three (3) years old by September 1 or four (4) years old by September 1.
How much is tuition for the Pre-K program?
Tuition is $1,500 for the year for our Half Day Program. We offer a monthly payment plan, semi-annual payments, and full tuition at the start of the school year. Families may also seek a reduced tuition rate by completing a free/reduced aid application.
Is there a lottery? How does it work?
Yes. Our Pre-K program has limited seating. We collect applications from March 1st through Friday, March 15th. The applications are then verified between March 19th and March 21st and a lottery is held on Friday, March 22nd. Families selected through the lottery will then complete the registration process. Families must complete the registration packet by April 26, 2024.
What if I am not selected through the lottery?
Families not selected will be automatically placed on the waitlist based on how they were selected in the lottery. If a spot opens during the school year, the Registrar will reach out to the family next in line to see if they are still interested in that spot. If they are interested in the spot, the family will need to complete the registration process.
What documents or information will I need to register my child?
Parents/Guardians must provide proof of residency (copy of a lease or mortgage statement and a utility or tax bill), and have copies of each child’s immunization records, a copy of the parent/guardian’s ID, and birth certificate, and complete the full registration packet, available online.
When does Kindergarten registration start?
Registration opens on February 6, 2024.
How old does my child need to be to register for Kindergarten?
To register for kindergarten, all children must turn 5 by September 1.
Is there a lottery for Kindergarten?
No.
Is there tuition for Kindergarten?
No.
I am relocating to East Windsor from out of town/out of state/out of country and my child has already completed kindergarten or my child is older and in an upper grade. How do I register?
Students are assigned by grade level based on age and transcripts from previous school.
My child is currently enrolled in EWPS Prekindergarten Program. Do I need to complete the registration?
No. Student’s only need to be registered and enrolled once with the school district.
My Child is currently enrolled in the Family Resource Center (FRC). Do I need to complete the registration process for him/her to enroll in Kindergarten?
Yes. Even though FRC is based at Broad Brook Elementary School, it is separate from the school and students will need to be registered before they can be enrolled in our Kindergarten Program.
Do I need to complete the Transportation Form, even if I plan to drive my child to school daily?
Yes. All students need a Transportation Form completed. Even if you plan to transport your child to and from school, we will still need the form completed.
If my child is currently enrolled in prekindergarten, do I need to complete medical forms for kindergarten?
There are additional medical requirements students need completed before they can enter kindergarten. If your child is currently enrolled in our prekindergarten program, please be on the lookout for information that will be sent home to you from the school.

About Our School District
From the first day of kindergarten and every step along the way to graduation day, we provide each student with the instruction, skills, and tools they need to find their own success. It’s all part of our approach, called “Portrait of a Graduate” .
This means by the time they graduate from high school, our students have become informed life-long learners, self-aware Individuals, and responsible citizens. They have become curious, motivated problem-solvers. They are open-minded critical thinkers and healthy decision makers. They are resilient, reflective, and socially-emotionally aware. Most important, they are civic contributors, clear communicators, and aware of the world around them.
A visit to any of our schools, a step into any of our classrooms, and one can clearly see the energy and enthusiasm in our programs. That’s because the strategic plan we put into place is working, and that we are allocating our resources wisely, efficiently, and effectively.
At East Windsor High School, the number of students demonstrating college-level proficiency on Advanced Placement (college level courses) doubled in one year. There are now 12 college-level course offerings available to East Windsor High School students. Students who pass the courses are given college credit, saving them (and their families) thousands of dollars on college tuition. More important? EWHS grads are ahead of their peers when they get to college or a technical school.
East Windsor Middle School is expanding its talented and gifted program. The course offerings include music, art, drama, athletic, and academic enrichment. The school’s music, athletic, and arts programs continue to grow organically and there is much positive momentum in the building.
Broad Brook Elementary School is building a reputation as a school known for its innovative reading and math program. Test scores show students’ academic improvement in reading and math are far outpacing students in other elementary schools across the state. But Broad Brook isn’t just about strong academics. The school is focused on helping students understand and manage their emotions (this is called social emotional learning in classrooms). The approach focuses on helping students exhibit self control, deal with challenges, and set and achieve personal goals. Students learn how to incorporate self-discipline into their studies, developing the planning and organizational skills they need to succeed.
Perhaps that’s why we are seeing an uptick in interest in attending our schools: we are seeing high numbers of families both in the district and from surrounding towns looking for more information about how to register in our school system. It’s proof positive that we are moving in the right direction.
