Last Friday, May 16th, East Windsor High School students received a truly unique and insightful visit from none other than Jeff Dooley, the voice of the Hartford Yard Goats! Mr. Dooley, the beloved broadcaster for our local minor league baseball team, spent time with our students discussing the exciting world of broadcasting and sports marketing.
Students had the incredible opportunity to hear firsthand about Mr. Dooley’s personal journey to becoming a professional broadcaster. The session was highly interactive, with students eagerly asking a wide range of questions – from how he got his start in the industry to the invaluable advice he would offer to anyone aspiring to work in sports.
Beyond the glamour, Mr. Dooley also provided a realistic look at the demands of the job, offering practical guidance on how to pursue a career in the field. Our students also gained valuable insights into the crucial roles of advertising and marketing within the sports industry. Among the biggest takeaways from the day were two powerful messages: always pursue what you love, and seize every opportunity to intern and job shadow!
This inspiring experience is just one of the many ways East Windsor High School’s Career Pathways program is committed to providing students with diverse opportunities to explore post-secondary career options. These invaluable real-world connections and explorations directly align with our district’s Portrait of a Graduate.
The Portrait of a Graduate is our district’s promise to parents and our commitment to our community that every one of our students will be ready for college, career, and life. It represents our district-wide initiative to help every student achieve success by becoming informed life-long learners, self-aware individuals, and responsible citizens. By connecting students with professionals like Jeff Dooley, the Career Pathways program empowers our students to become all of these things, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and inspiration to thrive in their future endeavors.
