East Windsor High School is thrilled to announce the launch of a brand-new Girls Flag Football club team this spring – a significant step forward for our athletic program and a testament to outstanding student leadership!
Leading this exciting initiative is our very own senior, Janiah Ramos! For the past year, Janiah has passionately advocated for this team, and her dedication has made it a reality. She effectively connected our school with Brandon Jubrey, the founder of the Connecticut Flag Football League and the skilled coach of the East Windsor youth program. Thanks to Janiah’s strong advocacy and inspiring vision, East Windsor High School is now part of a nationwide trend: the rapid growth of girls flag football!
This sport is gaining serious momentum! Girls Flag Football in Connecticut began in 2023 with an important one-day Central Connecticut Conference (CCC) tournament. By 2024, it had already developed into a competitive four-week regular season, culminating in a championship! And this growth is set to continue in 2025!
Key figures driving this local expansion are Brandon Jubrey and Windsor High School Athletic Director Chris Fulton, who are working hard to promote the sport across the region. Nationally, the NFL is actively supporting flag football through its impactful NFL Flag initiative, recognizing the great potential of these young athletes.

While Girls Flag Football is currently a club sport in our state, it has already achieved official interscholastic recognition in many other states, indicating its strong upward trajectory. Our own pioneering team, a talented combination of student-athletes from East Windsor, Northwest Catholic, and Plainville High Schools, recently took the field for their very first game – and they achieved a decisive victory! They secured an impressive 40–0 win over Simsbury, demonstrating their remarkable skill and teamwork right from the start!
Leading the charge for East Windsor on this groundbreaking team are the dedicated student-athletes: Janiah Ramos, Essence Strong, Zahira Woodson, Skylar Leone, and Nelly Santana! We applaud these exceptional student-athletes who are not only making history but also showcasing true Panther pride! The future of girls flag football is bright, and East Windsor High School is excited to be a part of this dynamic development!
