Dr. Patrick Tudryn, Superintendent of East Windsor Public Schools, shares an important message regarding an incredibly significant achievement that underscores the district’s unwavering commitment to the success of our students:
I’m thrilled to share some exciting news—East Windsor Public Schools was recently honored at the Connecticut Right to Read Legislative Forum for our leadership in early literacy and our commitment to implementing the science of reading.
This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our educators, administrators, and staff who are ensuring that every student becomes a confident and capable reader. At the forum, held last Friday at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford, our Assistant Superintendent, Mr. Darryl Rouillard, represented East Windsor on a distinguished panel that included state education leaders, district and school administrators, teacher leaders, and literacy experts.
Mr. Rouillard shared how our district is effectively putting Connecticut’s Right to Read legislation into action. He highlighted our use of evidence-based reading instruction, high-quality professional development, and data-informed decision-making—all of which are already contributing to strong student outcomes.

The panel also featured Commissioner Charlene Russell-Tucker, Senator Pat Billie Miller, and other key voices in education. Together, they discussed strategies for scaling effective reading practices across Connecticut. East Windsor was specifically recognized for our commitment to faithfully implementing these strategies and for our success in expanding literacy instruction beyond grade 3.
The event was co-hosted by ConnCAN and the Connecticut Commission on Women, Children, Seniors, Equity and Opportunity (CWCSEO), drawing more than 70 in-person attendees and many more online viewers. It was a powerful reminder of our state’s commitment to literacy equity—and East Windsor’s leadership in that effort.
A recording of the forum is available through CT-N. I encourage you to watch Mr. Rouillard’s participation in the panel discussion, along with the full event, here: Right to Read Forum
Please join me in congratulating Mr. Rouillard, along with our dedicated teachers and support staff, on this well-deserved recognition. Their collective commitment, expertise, and hard work are driving our district’s success in delivering high-quality, evidence-based literacy instruction to all students.
Patrick
