CT Dollars & Sense

A One-Stop Shop to Help Plan, Save, and Pay for College - a partnership of State agencies has launched a new on-line portal that provides one convenient website for Connecticut students and parents to find out how to plan, save and pay for college.  This new site contains college planning and financial literacy information from 5 separate agencies: the Connecticut Higher Education Trust (CHET), the Connecticut Higher Education Supplemental Loan Authority (CHELSEA), the Office of Higher Education, the Department of Banking, and the Department of Consumer Protection. Visit www.CTDollarsandSense.com for information on scholarships, loans, college savings plans and much more.

Selective Service

All males who have turned 18 are required by law to register with Selective Service within 30 days of turning 18.  Failure to do so could result in up to 5 years in prison and a fine of $250,000, if prosecuted.  In addition, you cannot qualify for federal student grants or loans for college, job training benefits and many state and federal jobs. Please go to www.sss.gov to register.

University of Hartford "College Now" Program for the Fall of 2019

The “College Now” Program is designed to provide outstanding high school seniors with an opportunity to enroll in one college course per semester on a tuition free basis. The program is quite selective and open only to “qualified” students that have exhausted the college preparatory courses offered at the high school, have maintained grades of “A” and “B” consistently in academic courses, and have achieved a minimum score of 500 on both the verbal and math portions of the SAT or PSAT. If interested in this program, please see the School Counseling Office for an application.  Deadline to apply is April 5, 2019.
